This is one of the most photographed holes in golf, the signature hole at Mauna Kea. Black lava rocks, deep blue of sky and sea against a lush green makes for some outstanding color contrasts. Mauna Kea was the first golf course built on the Big Island of Hawaii.
One of the most popular golf courses in Hawaii, Mauna Kea offers superb views of the beautiful Kohala Coast. Mauna Kea ranked #31 by Golf Digest as one of America's 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses, the Robert Trent Sr. designed course runs along the ocean in the beautiful Mauna Kea Resort. Opened originally in 1964, and restored in 2009, the Mauna Kea still has its original design character but has been enhanced with hybrid fairway and greens grasses making it immaculately well groomed and fun to play.
